LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Louisville Metro Police Department is moving forward with a plan to implement a gunshot detection system in the city.
The department's request for proposal has been completed and vendors are now submitting bids, according to a post on LMPD's Facebook page on Wednesday.
The deadline to submit bids is December 6.
Police believe using the technology will help them solve crimes and reduce the time it takes them to respond to shots fired calls.
The city's budget for gunshot detection technology is $250,000.
