Suspect charged in assault that left victim thinking he was shot


LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An arrest has been made in an August assault during which the victim believed he had been shot.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested Stanley M. Morris, Jr., 27, of Louisville, at the Hall of Justice around 12:15 p.m. November 17.
An arrest warrant for Morris says he assaulted a man on August 26, hitting him multiple times in the head with the butt of a handgun. During the assault, the gun discharged near the head of the victim.

It was initially believed by the victim and a witness that the victim had been shot in the head. Once taken to University of Louisville Hospital it was determined the injuries were caused by blunt force trauma.
The warrant goes on to state that after the assault Morris was spotted driving by the home of the victim in attempts to intimidate him.
Morris is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on one count of assault. Bond was set at $10,000 cash.
