STEPHENSBURG, KY (WAVE) - US 62 was closed in the Hardin County community of Stephensburg for several hours Tuesday morning while crews battled a three-alarm house fire.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported about 4:35 a.m. just east of Lakewood Elementary School and West Hardin Middle School.

Crews from six fire departments responded to the fire.

Hardin County Schools spokesman John Wright said Lakewood and West Hardin parents and students faced issues getting to the schools because of the road closures. Tardy students would not be penalized, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
