GE union members voting on new contract
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Members of General Electric's union is now voting on the ratification of a new contract from GE owner Haier.
President of Local 761, Dana Crittendon, told WAVE 3 News the union is not making a recommendation on the vote.
"I wished there was more money to give to the competitive wage employees," Crittendon said. "There's not any raises for them, or for anyone, and members have to make up their mind. We're dealing with a new owner, they're investing in Appliance Park and giving us an opportunity."
The union has been in negotiations with GE for three months.
Voting runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the union hall.
WAVE 3 News will have an update on the vote tonight on our evening newscasts, beginning at 5 p.m.
