LMAS offering free pet adoptions

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Louisville Metro Animal Shelter and the Kentucky Humane Society is offering free pet adoptions on all adoptable dogs and cats over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Adopters at LMAS and KHS will pay no adoption fee, but are responsible for paying a pet licensing fee. The special runs from Black Friday, Nov. 28, through Cyber Monday, Nov. 28.

This life-saving event is sponsored by the online retailer, Zappos has pledged to donate $1.25 million toward this nation-wide adoption special.

The LMAS Animal House Adoption Center located at 3516 Newburg Rd. Ten other KHS locations are participating statewide.

LMAS Animal House adoption hours are Friday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday noon to 6 p.m., and Monday noon to 4 p.m.

The KHS Main Campus located at 241 Steedly Drive and the East Campus located at  1000 Lyndon Lane, hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Monday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. KHS adoption centers at Feeders Supply are open during regular store hours.

All pets adopted from KHS and LMAS have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given worm, flea and tick preventatives, services which are valued at more than $250.
