INTERVIEW: Dawne Gee mounts comeback after suffering stroke on air

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - We are glad to say that Dawne Gee is on the road to recovery.

While anchoring the 7:30 p.m. newscast on Friday, Dawne suffered a medical emergency while on the air. After initial help from her WAVE 3 News co-workers, Louisville firefighters and EMS personnel came to Dawne's aid.

She was taken to Norton Hospital for treatment and evaluation. Dawne was later told that she had suffered a stroke which, at the time, had left her paralyzed.

Tuesday by phone, Dawne joined Julian Glover on the show bearing her name, WAVE Country with Dawne Gee, to update her many fans on her condition.

You can click here to watch the segment and hear from Dawne in her own words. She also wanted to make sure everyone knows how grateful she is to the many people who have offered prayers and support. Our WAVE 3 News family greatly appreciates those as well.

We will share new information about Dawne's condition when we have it, on wave3.com and on our newscasts.

In the meantime, you can send messages of support to Dawne on the WAVE 3 News Facebook page or the WAVE 3 News Twitter page using the hashtag #GetWellDawne, and we'll make sure she sees them. Cards and letters can be sent to the station at 725 S. Floyd St., Louisville, KY 40203.
