LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Holiday shopping season is upon us. Sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday encourages consumers to support their local economy and shop small.

The national campaign is in its seventh year. Local business owners say the final quarter of the year can make or break a small business. There are thousands of small businesses to choose from here in WAVE Country and you can get some really unique things.

Lulubelle's is a boutique located in Norton Commons in Prospect. The owners stopped by WAVE 3 News Weekend Sunrise to talk about why it's important to shop small.

"I think supporting your community is supporting your neighbor, family, and friends," said Natalie Gerlack.  "I personally love to shop and if you are like me, I hope there doesn't come a day where you can only shop online. I hope we can support our local businesses and go to fun whimsical boutiques like Lulubelle's."

Mayor Greg Fischer and Congressman John Yarmuth joined the Louisville Independent Business Association and small business resource providers at Heine Brothers' Coffee on West Main Street. They say spending your holiday dollars in the shop down the street provides jobs for people who live in the area and supports local vendors.
