LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man accused in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman has been arrested.
Joshua Lee Sauer, 38, was arrested by detectives with the Louisville Metro Police Department's 9th Mobile Division around 12:30 a.m. November 30.
An arrest warrant says on November 18 Sauer choked and hit his victim numerous times in the face and head before forcing the woman into the back seat of her car. Sauer then drove around with the woman for an unknown length of time.
The victim said Sauer stopped the car somewhere and told the woman she could have sex with him to make it up to him. When she refused, the victim said Sauer sexually assaulted the woman.
The warrant states after Sauer to the area of Poplar Level Road and the Watterson Expressway he told the victim that she would have to stay with him for at least three days to allowed the swelling to go down or he would surely go to jail. He also threatened to take her to another state, if necessary.
The woman told police she was able to escape after Sauer stopped at a traffic light. She flagged down a passing cab, which took her to Audubon Hospital. Sauer drove off in the woman's car, taking both her work and personal cell phones which he had taken from her.
Sauer is being held on charges of kidnapping, rape, sodomy, assault, wanton endangerment and two counts of theft by unlawful taking - one for the auto and one for the personal property. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash.
