Louisville’s Deadliest Year: Shooting death in Algonquin neighborhood brings city’s homicide count to 111

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A shooting death in Louisville's Algonquin neighborhood has pushed the number of homicides in the city to 111.

The shooting was reported near the intersection of 25th Street and Burwell Avenue around 7:20 p.m. Friday, according to MetroSafe.

The name of the victim has not been released.

No suspect information was immediately available.

The death is Louisville's 111th homicide of 2016, making it the deadliest year in the city's history. In 1971 the city recorded 110 homicides.
