LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A new online petition is asking Walmart to reconsider moving to west Louisville.

Walmart canceled plans to add a store at 18th Street and Broadway in October.

Walmart was tired of waiting for the resolution of a lawsuit so the company pulled out of the project. But some living in West Louisville said they desperately need the jobs, a place to shop and access to fresh, healthy foods.

Reverend Kirk M. Bush, of Harrods Creek Baptist Church, started the online petition. He's hoping to 30,000 signatures.

Louisville Metro Council members Jessica Green, who represent District 1, Mary C. Woolridge, who represents District 3, and Kelly Downard, who represents District 16, are supporting his petition.
