FLOYD COUNTY, IN (WAVE) – A woman died following a crash in Floyd County.

According to a preliminary report from Indiana State Police, Sharon Pinkston, 71, of Dayton, Ohio, was driving a 2007 Chrysler minivan westbound on Interstate 265 around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when she crashed into the rear of a 2001 Lexus at the 5.5 mile marker.

After hitting the Lexus, Pinkston's van went off the northside of the road and hit a tree.

Pinkston was taken to the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville where she was pronounced dead, according to Sellersburg police.

The driver of the Lexus was not injured.

The crash and Pinkston's cause of death remain under investigation.
