LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A woman was rescued from a house fire in the Phoenix Hill neighborhood.
The fire was reported in the 900 block of Marshall Street around 7:35 a.m. Wednesday, according to MetroSafe.
When fire crews arrived, they worked to get the victim out of the home. Louisville Fire & Rescue Captain Salvador Melendez said the rescue was difficult due to the proximity of the fire to the victim. He also said medical equipment limited their access.
The woman was taken to University of Louisville Hospital and was listed in critical condition, according to Melendez.
It took 28 firefighters 22 minutes to extinguish the flames. The fire left extensive damage throughout the home.
