LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Crews are investigating a crash involving a motorcyclist on Bardstown Road near the Broadrun Parkway.

Around 9:45 p.m. first responders were called to the scene of what was described as a serious crash. It happened in the 11000 block of Bardstown Road, which is south of the Gene Snyder, near the Bullitt County line.

Louisville Metro Police Department spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said the motorcyclist was riding northbound on Bardstown Road when he hit the back of a car in front of him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Smiley said the man did have a helmet on at the time of the crash.

The motorcyclist has not been identified.

All northbound lanes of Bardstown Road were as crews examined the scene.

The driver of the car was not injured.

Louisville Metro Emergency Services and the Fern Creek Fire Department responded to render aid. The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating.
