Charlestown man charged with New Albany PNC Bank robbery

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - New Albany Police have arrested a Charlestown, Indiana man in relation to a Friday morning bank robbery.

New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey confirmed that NAPD officers were dispatched to the PNC Bank in the 2000 block of State Street at 10:47 a.m. on Friday, April 27.  An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

Robert L. Hardesty, 52, has been charged with robbery, Chief Bailey confirmed Thursday morning.

"I'd like to congratulate the men and women of the NAPD on a job well done," Bailey stated. "Gratitude is extended to our partner law enforcement agencies and citizens who assisted in resolving this case.  The safety of the citizens of our community is our most important priority."

New Albany PD's Criminal Investigations Division investigated the robbery with the help of the FBI.
