KSP: Murder charges, manhunt in connection to Jackson Co. car fire murders

MCKEE, KY (WAVE) - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) have charged one person with murder and asked for the public's help in finding another Jackson County man in connection with two people found dead in a car fire last December.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, Bobby L. Hammonds, 40, of McKee was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with two counts of murder. Bobby Hammonds is being lodged at the Jackson County Detention Center.
Police are looking for Terry Hammonds, 41, who is wanted on two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, the Kentucky State Police said.
The man hunt and charges stem from an incident in Jackson County on December 28, 2017. At approximately 3:15 p.m., Jackson County Dispatch received a call about a car on fire on Rock Lick Road.
First responders arrived on the scene and found two people dead inside the flames, later identified as Joey Marcum, 35, and Whitney R. Venable, 28.
Anyone with information on Terry Hammonds' whereabouts is asked to contact KSP Post 7 at 859-623-2404.
The ongoing investigation is being handled by KSP Post 7 Detective Adam Hall.
