LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The full moon you see Sunday night into Monday morning will be a special one.

Sunday's full moon is called a Pink Moon. But no, the moon will not shine with a rosy hue, it will stay its normal color.

This full moon is special because the flowers that grow at this time of the year. It gets its name from the Moss Pink, a flower that blooms across the United States and Canada this time of the year.

Skies will be clear across WAVE Country, making the moon quite easy to see. The full moon will rise at 8:17 p.m. on Sunday night and set at 7:28 a.m. on Monday morning in Louisville.

This moon is also known as the Egg Moon since many animals lay their eggs around this time. It's even called the Fish Moon since some fish swim upstream with this moon.

Our next full moon will have a special name too! May's full moon will be the 'Flower Moon.' That rises on May 29.
