LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – I like to call myself a "recessionista." I use phrases like "ballin' on a budget," when referring to her shopping habits.

To prove my bargaining skills I visited the Goodwill, also called "Gucci Goodwill," on Highway 42 to search for a head to toe Derby outfit under $100.

"A washer can do wonders so let's go shopping," Adrienne Poole, an independent marketing contractor for Goodwill, said.

Gliding through the aisles, the various items can be overwhelming for shoppers. However, Poole knows exactly what to look for.

Poole is a frequent Goodwill shopper and was dressed head to toe in her finds during our shopping trip.

"My dress was approximately $5.29 and my shoes were $3.99," Poole said.

When looking for a Derby outfit, start with looking for pops of color.

It's common to go through several misses before you get a hit on an outfit.

Poole stumbled across several nice items while at Goodwill.

"This dress is brand new from Dillard's," Poole said. "Still has the tags on it."

The original price of the Dillard's dress was $60, at Goodwill it was $5.29.

When shoe shopping, you want to go for comfort at the Derby. Look for flats or sandals.

After scouring the racks, I got Anne Klein pumps, an Al Boutique branded dress, a fascinator and a wallet clutch with the original tags still on the bag. The total came out to be $12.78!

All the money from items purchased at Goodwill benefit people with disadvantages, disabilities and job training.
