LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Walmart is closing three Louisville stores.
The company confirmed Wednesday the following locations will close on Aug. 10:
- Walmart Supercenter, 1915 South Hurstbourne Parkway
- Walmart Neighborhood Market, 3101 Poplar Level Road
- Walmart Neighborhood Market, 201 Blankenbaker Parkway
Walmart spokeswoman Anne Hatfield released the following statement, "The decision to close stores is not an easy one, but, as a company, we are committed to continuing our growth and investment in Kentucky. We are proud of how the store leadership and associates have served and contributed to the local community over the years. We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at these locations. We look forward to continuing to serve them at our other Louisville area locations and online at http://walmart.com."
The closures will affect approximately 385 employees, who were notified of the closures Wednesday morning.
Hatfield said Walmart will work to sit down with each associate to see what they want to do. She said the company is hopeful the employees will want to continue their careers with Walmart and transfer to another store or Sam's Club.
All three locations that are closing have a pharmacy. Hatfield said the pharmacy staff will work with patients to transfer prescriptions to other stores or a pharmacy of their choice.
