Obscene messages put end to legal graffiti experiment

(LOUISVILLE) -- Local officials tried to give graffiti artists a legal place to practice their craft, but now they say that experiment is over.

Two concrete walls on Market Street under Interstate 65 were part of a project rolled out in October. The year-long project is ending six months early because obscene messages were found on the wall and on nearby buildings and sidewalks.

We found at least one person who was disappointed. Despite the obscenities, Ryan Taylor says he thinks "it's really helped. It's just a shame. I think they're closing it because people are doing illegal things over here. It's just a shame that that happened."

Public works crews will soon paint the wall beige.
