LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Metro arson investigators were looking into the cause of a fire at a Lyndon apartment complex Thursday morning.
The blaze broke out just after 9:30 a.m. at a building in the Westbury Harbour complex on Lyndon Lane and completely gutted the corner apartment. A Lyndon fire captain says there are 12 apartments in the building - four on each floor.
All of them were evacuated and have some smoke and water damage.
Nearby residents who witnessed the fire say the flames shot skyward.
"There was a lot of smoke," said Dennis Sprowles. "You could even see the flames reaching a good 15 to 20 feet up from the building itself. It was quite a sight to see when you first wake up."
Thirty-five firefighters from three departments worked for about 40 minutes to get the fire under control. No one was hurt.
We'll let you know when investigators determine a cause.
