LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - They may not be on the ballot, but some former Primary candidates are kicking up some dirt on the campaign trail.

Louisville's Mayoral race is heating up. With just a few days to go, it's getting down-to-the-wire for the candidates and that prompted two endorsements Monday in the city's race for mayor.

Republican Hal Heiner and Democrat Greg Fischer are vying for the post.

Earlier this month, Independent Jackie Green dropped out of the race and threw his support behind Fischer.

It's a move that the Heiner camp has called into question, casting a cloud of doubt over the origin of Green's decision and any possible incentives for it.

Monday morning, Heiner picked up two endorsements from his former Republican Primary rivals: Chris Thieneman and Jonathan Robertson.

The men say they decided to come forward after the Fischer-Green allegations.

"If this is the kind of thing that Greg Fischer is going to have, he should be run out of town," Thieneman said. "We cannot have this thing tied up in court for years to come which I know could happen with the facts that are coming out."

We called the Fischer team for a response to these bold statements, but a campaign spokesperson says they have "no response for now."
