NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - It's primary election day in Indiana and voters chose who they wanted as the mayors of New Albany, Jeffersonville and Charlestown.

Three Democrats, Paul Etheridge, Jeff Gahan, and Irv Stumler battled it out for the bid for New Albany's next mayor. Current Mayor Doug England is not seeking re-election. Instead, he was on the ballot for City Council. Depending on if the local Republican party decides to nominate a candidate in the fall, this primary race could determine who is New Albany's next mayor.

Voters also chose their city council member and city of New Albany clerk. Voter precincts will stayed open until 6:00 PM. All election results will be posted on wave3.com as they come in.
