Williams concedes messenger wrong, but message right

LEXINGTON, KY (WAVE) - Republican David Williams predicted an "upset," but instead took a pounding. The race was called about 30 minutes after the second set of polls closed. Williams said while he may not have been popular, his message was on point.
"I called Gov. Beshear and congratulated him on his victory," said Williams in an emailed statement. "I told him I would work with him to solve problems and move our state forward."
Williams says he is planning to meet with Beshear soon.
"On behalf of the Senate Republicans, my message is that we will not rest until every Kentuckian who wants a job has a job and the opportunity to provide for his or her family," said Beshear.
Some question if losing this election may make Williams vulnerable as President of the Senate.
He still has one term left to serve and says he's getting back to work the day after the election.
"I want the people of Kentucky to know that tomorrow I am reporting for duty as President of the Kentucky State Senate," said Williams. "I plan to go back to work looking for ways to make this state a better place to live and work."
Williams' running mate Richie Farmer who has been going through a public divorce in addition to running a campaign, told WAVE 3 it's been a long year, but he doesn't regret it, and he may run for office again in the future.
