Fire destroys apartment in Shively

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A fire that started in a kitchen has destroyed one apartment and damaged three others in Shively.
Emergency crews were called to the apartment building in the 1700 block of Gagle Ave. at 3:52 a.m.
Firefighters say the fire started in the kitchen of a ground floor apartment, and then engulfed the unit. The person living there woke up and called 911, then got out of the building safely.
Residents from the other apartments also got out safely.
The apartment where the fire originated was destroyed. Three other units have smoke damage.
