Man killed in shooting at downtown apartment

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – One man is dead after a shooting early Tuesday at downtown Louisville public housing complex.

At 12:19 a.m., MetroSafe received a call reporting that a shooting had occurred in a unit of the 550 Apartments in the 500 block of Mary J. Robb Court. Officers found a man dead of a gunshot wound inside the apartment.

Authorities tell WAVE 3 the victim was shot by an armed black man who fled in a waiting car. Some witnesses have said the alleged shooter may have also been shot or somehow injured.

Louisville Metro Police homicide detectives were early in the investigation and were beginning to question those living around the area of the shooting.

The name of the man killed has not been released.
