LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Back in December, a 4-year-old boy was crushed by a more than 100 pound TV. Nearly every bone in Cole Durham's face was broken after a box TV fell off of a dresser while he was climbing on it. He is doing much better and is now back at home.

While his road to a full recovery will continue, at home he is nothing, but smiles.

"As I was walking towards the bedroom, I heard the crash," said Sarah Durham, mother.

It's that spilt second that will be forever be embedded in the Durham's minds. "We kind of feel like it is our responsibility to spread the word and tell people that these things happen and even though that TV is huge and heavy and you don't think it could ever budge," said Sarah Durham. "Obviously, we're here to tell you it can."

And it did to their son who has autism. For more than a month the Durham's called Kosair Children's Hospital home. At times they wondered if their blue eyed boy would ever bounce back.

"When we were in the hospital and the surgeons said we think he face will look pretty much like it did," said Sarah Durham. "I remember looking at my husband and thinking, there is no way, his face is going to look the same, but it does. I mean he looks different definitely, especially his left eye and the left side of his face, but he looks like our Cole again."

The accident happened just days before Christmas, so now that they are back home and Cole is in the process of getting the holiday he missed. While the Durhams are making sure certain changes in their home were made.

"We have this actual chest of drawers anchored to the wall very well," said Sarah Durham. "It is very sturdy and won't move a bit. This flat screen here is anchored to wall very well and there is a strap behind here."

Now Cole's story is getting national attention. The Durhams will soon be featured in a report on Inside Edition.

"It's a miracle that he is living, but it needs to be a further miracle for us that we need to save and create miracles for other kids and other families," said Travis Durham, Friday.

The Durhams say they've received so much support through the community during all of this. They don't plan to stop here as they are in the process of setting up the Team Cole Foundation in hopes of building awareness about the importance of anchoring furniture and TVs.
