NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) – Investigators in Floyd County need your help to identify a woman accused of breaking into a car at a local gym, but police say southern Indiana wasn't her only stop.

"I figured it would be safer in a car than in a locker and I had it underneath the dash pushed back so it wasn't readily visible," said Katie Malambri, who had her car broken into.

Back in November, Malambri went to work out at LAC on Charlestown Road in New Albany, but when she came out her driver side window was smashed and her purse was gone.
" I was really, really angry, not only at the person, but also at myself, too because I left it in the car," said Malambri.
Malambri canceled her credit cards, but not her checking account and months after the initial crime, just recently that came back to haunt her.
"I was checking my account balance online and I noticed that my account had a lot less money in it than I knew that was suppose to be in there and I thought wait a minute, what is going on," said Malambri.
What was going on, police say is a woman was cashing Malambri's checks. Three of them, each $1000.
The checks that were stolen and cashed in Indy, the name that it was made payable to that woman  was actually a victim in Plainfield, Indiana.
It turns out the name of the woman that was being printed on the checks, Detective Jeff Topping, says had her purse stolen in a Wal-Mart store outside of Indianapolis. Topping says these may not be the only crimes this woman is linked to.
"Some of the other officers and detectives may be working similar cases, that we are not aware of," said Topping.
Police say the suspect pulled up in a maroon Pontiac with dark tinted windows. "It's definitely a violation," said Malambri. "Someone stole my identity and they had full access to all of my money."
