Apartment fire leaves families homeless

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An apartment fire has left several families homeless after 10 units suffered damage.

The fire started Saturday afternoon on Patton Court  in downtown Louisville.

Lt. Carroll Haueter said fire crews arrived on the scene where they saw heavy smoke coming from the second story. The fire then lapped up into the attic area.

Louisville Fire and Rescue crews were able to put out the flames quickly but the building had a concrete roof causing them to have to use alternative methods to extinguish all the flames.

One unit was damaged due to heavy fire. Nine other units were damaged due to smoke and water.

No one was injured during the blaze.
