Highlands apartment fire under control

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Firefighters have managed to bring a fire under control in the Highlands neighborhood. According to MetroSafe, a building in the 2300 block of Glenmary Avenue caught fire around 6:45 p.m. Monday.

When Louisville firefighters arrived, they reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the building, which contained three apartments.

MetroSafe said it appears everyone inside of the home was able to escape, but several roads in the area are shut down.

It took 35 firefighters 50 minutes to put out the fire. Traffic in the area is expected to be blocked for several house while fire crews remain on the scene.

Five people living in the three apartments have been displaced by the fire.
