LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – More than 30 firefighters worked to put out flames at a two story apartment complex in Louisville's Beechmont neighborhood Wednesday.
MetroSafe dispatches said the fire started shortly before 8 p.m. in the Wentworth Apartments, located in the 4600 block of Southern Parkway.
When Louisville Fire and Rescue crews arrived they reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the building. It took the fire crews about 20 minutes to extinguish the flames.
Fire officials said it appeared the fire started in a rear apartment on the first floor. The people who lived in the apartment unit were not home when the fire started.
No injuries were reported but six units had to be evacuated. People who live in units that were not damaged will be able to return to their homes. The Red Cross will be assisting residents with damaged units.
