2 rescued from apartment fire in Lake Dreamland

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two people were rescued by fire crews as they worked to put out flames inside an apartment in the Lake Dreamland neighborhood.

MetroSafe said the fire started shortly before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 3400 block of Shanks Lane. When firefighters arrived they reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the home.

MetroSafe said the two people who were rescued were taken to University of Louisville Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

One unit was damaged during the fire.

Fire officials said the fire started in the stairwell of the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
