Child porn found in abandoned apartment; Jefferson Co. man indicted

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police are urging the public to come forward with details after Jefferson County man was indicted on several counts of possession of child pornography.
Houston Lee Robertson Jr. is being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections after being indicted by a grand jury on December 22, 2014. The four counts against him stem from four pornographic images involving children St. Matthews Police believe are tied to Robertson.
Police, however, believe there may be more victims involved in incidents possibly dating back 30 years.
"We need your help," said St. Matthews Police Patrolman Dennis McDonald at a headquarters press conference Thursday. "We need the community's help."
"What we are afraid of is that if this sort of activity has occurred in the past," began SMPD Detective Jeff May,"if we don't address it it could very well happen in the future."
Thursday the SMPD duo made a public plea in hopes of finding more information on the case.
"This investigation leads our detectives to suspect that Houston Lee Robertson Jr. may have exploited children in the past," said McDonald.
Police said Robertson had been at the Mallgate Apartments near Mall St. Matthews but abandoned his unit after he could no longer pay rent. What he left behind led cleaning crews to call police.
"In the process of cleaning the apartment they located several images," said May.
"Matter portraying a minor in a sex act," said McDonald.
That happened back in November 2014. A Jefferson County grand jury indicted Robertson one month later, but his arrest did not happen until January after police tracked him down in North Carolina.
May said he believed the possible victims in the images collected from Robertson's apartment ranged in age from 18 down to 2-years-old.
The police believed the time frame for the sexual assaults could span decades, possibly dating from as far back as the 1980s and as recent as last year.
"Mr. Robertson has lived here in Louisville, Kentucky," began McDonald, "Taylor County, Kentucky and he's also lived in North Carolina."
With Robertson having lived in several areas, as well as having been homeless, police said teamwork is key to solving this case.
Saint Matthews Police are working with other agencies, but said so far they have yet to make contact with any of the victims.
Robertson is expected back in court for a pretrial conference hearing on February 18.
