Firefighters to collect money for apartment fire victims

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The people left homeless after a fire forced destroyed two apartment buildings in Jeffersonville last week are going to get some help from the people who tried to save their homes.

The multi-alarm fire on April 16 at the Bridgepoint Apartments left some 80 people homeless with only the clothes on their backs.

On Friday, April 24, Jeffersonville firefighters will be manning six roadblocks around the community to raise money for the victims.

The roadblocks will be set up from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the following locations in Jeffersonville:

  • 8th & Wall Streets
  • Market & Main
  • 11th and Dutch Lane
  • Port Road and Middle Road
  • Veterans Parkway and Holmans Lane
  • Truckers Blvd. and Hamburg Pike

In addition to the roadblocks, the International Association of Firefighters Local 558 has established a Go Fund Me account under the name "Bridgepoint Fire Relief."
