New hotel opens in downtown Louisville just in time for Derby
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Just in time for Derby weekend, Louisville’s newest hotel is now open to guests.
Hotel Bourre Bonne is part of Hilton’s Curio Collection and developed by Zyyo, a prominent Louisville developer. They’re aiming to attract guests from convention goers to bourbon trail wanderers.
But also Louisvillians.
“We want them to feel that this is an extension of their own living room,” Monty Valldejuli, the hotel’s General Manager, said. “So they’re welcome anytime, any day. We want our bars and our restaurant to be patronized by the locals.”
Inside the hotel, which sits on the corners of Second and Market streets, are 168 rooms, 6,000 square feet of meeting space and a rooftop pool.
“[It’s] probably the first beautiful, most beautiful flexible pool deck in town,” Valldejuli said.
The name means ‘a good bet,’ quite fitting coming on the cusp of Derby weekend.
“They wanted something that sounded French, sounded local and sounded similar to bourbon,” Valldejuli said. “So Hotel Bourre Bonne means ‘a good bet,’ and this is a really great bet.”
However, Valldejuli said for their first Derby weekend, the hotel is completely sold out. However, they plan to be around for many Derbies to come.
On Tuesday afternoon, Mayor Craig Greenberg plans to mark the grand opening of the hotel with a ribbon-cutting event.
