LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Hundreds of thousands of holiday wreaths are being distributed nationwide to decorate veterans’ graves before the holiday season.

It’s part of Wreaths Across America’s annual wreath-laying ceremony.

Monday, two JB Hunt truck drivers handed off the keys to a special semi-truck. The truck at the ceremony was hauling almost 6,500 wreaths from Ohio to the Dallas National Cemetery- at times, with a police escort.

Both drivers are veterans working for JB Hunt, who have been delivering wreaths every year for the past 11 years.

“They don’t treat me any different, but I guess they see me a little bit different. And that’s an honor to me, and it’s a huge honor to be hauling this load,” Tim Craddock said. “It’s very moving, you know, to think about all the soldiers.“

Craddock will drive the truck to LaVerne, Tennessee, before handing off the keys to another driver.

JB Hunt will deliver about 330,000 wreaths to 13 national cemeteries.

More than three million wreaths will be placed at more than 4,000 cemeteries nationwide on Dec. 13.

Volunteers are needed to help lay more than 11,000 wreaths at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery. To learn more, click or tap here.
