LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A candidate for Circuit Court judge in Jefferson County is having his own legal issues. James Green appeared in family court on September 8 over issues regarding child support and medical bills for his 15-year-old daughter.
WAVE 3 was in court when Green admitted he was a recovering alcoholic. We learned about the personal issues of Green, a former prosecutor and judge, after a stack of court documents were sent to our newsroom. Chris Meinhart, Green's attorney, says these issues do not discount his ability to serve as a judge.
"So much of what we deal with in this courthouse has to do with alcoholism, alcohol abuse, and drug abuse. And someone who has lived it and is really doing the right thing with the community, um to help out other people in that position would be a great candidate for judge," said Meinhart.
the judge is expected to issue a ruling on this matter in a few days. Green is running against current judge, Katie King.
