Police looking for shooter in homicide investigation
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A 21-year-old man was found murdered in his home and now police need your help solving the case.
Police are trying to figure out who murdered Angelo Stone in his apartment in the 100 block of East Kingston Avenue.
"He just tried to get his life together. he just moved into his apartment and now he's dead," said Stone's cousin, Jacqueline Mitchell.
"Even though it happened to my son, the way the world is today I'm glad he is in a better place," said Stone's mother Kimberly Gardener.
Gardener said she knew something was wrong when her son was late to turn in his rental car. She said she kept calling him and he didn't answer.
His body was found Monday afternoon by a friend.
"He went to the back and the door was already open an he was laying in there dead," said Gardener
The coroner say Stone died from a single gun shot wound.
Tuesday, the remains of a crime scene sit outside his home, along with messages and stuffed animals.
"The problem we are having here is the fact that he had just moved into the residence approximately 3 days prior to," said LMPD Homicide Detective LTV. Barry Wilkerson. "Very limited furniture anything in the house. At that point not that much of anything had gone on there. That has limited the info we received."
Whitney Appleton and her 1-year-old son live right above Stone. She says she didn't hear or see anything.
"I'm at the point where I am ready to cut my lease because it is something scary," said Appleton.
Stone is a father of two. The last time the mother of his children, Rishawna Brooks, saw him was Sunday.
"I just want you to know you took something from my kids they are gonna grow up now, 2 and 7 months without a father," said Rishawna Brooks. "How am I gonna explain to my kids their daddy isn't here."
Stone does have some minor criminal history.
