LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Louisville doctor convicted of inappropriately touching several of his female patients has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Dr. Ghias Arar was found guilty on six counts of sexual abuse in April. He was found not guilty on two other sexual abuse charges.

Judge Mitch Perry sentenced Arar on Monday to three years on each count. The sentences will run concurrent. Aida Arar, Dr. Arar's wife, begged Perry to reduce his sentence to probation.

"He's a loving father," Mrs. Arar said. "Great husband, he's kind and gentle."

Four victims said they were assaulted by Arar at East Louisville Neurology in 2013. Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Erin White told Perry they in no way see probation a justified sentence.

"They want you to know what kind of man he is well the court knows what kind of man he is," White said. "You know he's a sex offender. He is charitable and kind, except when he's violating his patients sexually."

Tara Batrice is one of the victims. She said she's relieved that this process is finally over and Arar is behind bars.

"All of his victims had to remain tormented by this man being free for over two years until it was finally brought to justice," Batrice said. "I can know that I'm safe. My kids are safe, my family ,and all the other victims and all of their families will finally be safe."

With her husband Nathan by her side, Batrice watched as Perry formally sentence Arar to the recommended three year sentence.

"Our only hope is that we can continue to pick up the pieces and can continue with our lives and forget about this incident," Nathan Batrice said. "This is not something that can go away just after a sentence."

The Batrices said they're so thankful for the women that came forward.
