Friend identifies victim of Village West Drive homicide
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A close friend of the man killed in the Russell neighborhood late Sunday night has identified the victim.
WAVE 3 News reporter Maira Ansari talked to a man at the shooting scene, who told her the victim's name is Derrick Bussey. Community activist Christopher 2X also confirmed the identification.
Bussey's friend, Darryl Goodwin, rushed over to the City View Park Apartments on Monday morning.
"I woke up and seen it on my Facebook page somebody telling me that cousin of mine got killed," Goodwin said.

Bussey is the city's 81st homicide victim. Police responded to the shooting on Village West Drive just before midnight on Sunday and found the victim shot outside his home.
"Never thought it would be him because he wasn't that type of guy and now I'm sitting here with bullet fragments," Goodwin said.
Several bullet holes were visible in Bussey's front door.
The sound of gun shots is nothing new for residents at City View Park.

"It's like you don't even hear them because they go on every day," said resident Bruce Sweeney.
LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said members of the victim's family were in the home at the time of the shooting. Homicide detectives said they are investigating if Bussey's case is linked to any recent homicide cases.
More than a week ago at 10th and Magazine Streets, Deionte Stokes, was shot and killed. A community activist said Stokes and Bussey were friends. A memorial for Stokes is the same complex where Bussey was killed.
