Ray D'Alessio joined WAVE 3 in January of 2009. He currently anchors WAVE 3 Sunrise with Carrie Weil from 5 to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Before joining WAVE 3, Ray spent 7-1/2 years as a Sports Anchor/Reporter for CNN Sports and CNN Headline News in Atlanta. During that time Ray covered numerous sporting events. They include everything from the Kentucky Derby to the Daytona 500. Ray will be the first one to tell you that he is a diehard racing fan and has a serious passion for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as well as the Indianapolis Colts.

Despite his love of sports, Ray say's making the switch to news was something he had wanted to do for some time and he's grateful WAVE 3 gave him the opportunity to do it back in his roots, the Midwest.

Before joining CNN, Ray was the primary sports anchor and the sports director at Fox-affiliate WXIN-TV in Indianapolis. He's also anchored sports in Toledo, Ohio and Terre Haute, Indiana.

Ray earned his bachelor's degree in speech communication from Eastern Illinois University in 1991. He was also the starting place kicker for the university's football team during the 1989 and 1990 seasons.
