MSD truck driver accused in deadly crash claimed decades of experience
Roger Burdette has been charged with murder in the crash that killed LMPD Detective Deidre Mengedoht

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Roger Burdette, the Metro Sewer District driver accused of killing an LMPD officer in a crash on Christmas Eve, had 30 years as a truck driver, WAVE 3 News has learned.
We obtained a copy of his employee file which contained no information about prior incidents. However, we also asked about any disciplinary action or complaints against Burdette.
MSD said Burdette did have a prior disciplinary action, but because of union rules that information was removed from his file. There is no other indication of what that disciplinary action was about, though MSD stated it was no longer active.

They also said he had once received an oral warning regarding the utility service’s attendance policy.
On his application in 2008, Burdette stated he held a Class A Commercial Driver's License with a Tanker Endorsement which allows drivers to haul liquid or gaseous materials.
As of 2017, Burdette was making $21.09 an hour.
WAVE 3 News reviewed his job evaluations in which he received praise from his supervisors. The most recent evaluation contained in his file was dated December 21, 2017. Under Safety Focus it’s stated he “meets work performance safety standards.”
In 2016, Burdette also got high marks for “consistently exceeding expectations” and that he observed and reported potentially unsafe conditions.
