$1 million bond issued for Jeffersonville childcare provider charged with death of 6-month old
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A home-based childcare provider in southern Indiana was taken into custody for the death of an infant that happened almost two years ago.
Indiana State Police arrested Brittany Baylor, 35, of Jeffersonville, on felony charges Tuesday evening.
In 2022, six-month-old Airis Edmonson was dropped off by his parents at Baylor’s Jeffersonville home for daycare. He would later die from a closed head injury, investigators determined, was the result of assault.

Indiana State Police and Norton’s Pediatric Protective Services found Baylor responsible for the baby’s death.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the baby had injuries similar to being dropped from a second-story window. An attorney representing the Edmonson family says the death happened the very first time the parents trusted their child with someone else.
“Airis had not been away from his parents in the six months of his life, until that moment-that day,” Larry Wilder said. “That was the first time that child had not been with mom and dad. They actually found this lady to care for him so they could just have a moment to go to the grocery store and do things they hadn’t done for six months.”
On Wednesday, a judge set Baylor’s bond at $1 million. If posted, she can’t work with kids.
Baylor’s attorneys argued against information in the probable cause affidavit, saying there isn’t evidence that Baylor caused a head injury.
Baylor was booked at the Clark County Jail for aggravated battery resulting in death and neglect of a dependent resulting in death. Baylor faces a minimum of 15 years for each count.
