ISP believes Orange County deputy shooting suspect in greater Louisville area
NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WAVE) - The suspect accused of shooting an Orange County deputy is still at large and considered to be armed and dangerous after a police stand-off in New Albany Friday failed to find him.
New Albany Police and SWAT raided a home on East Market Street on Jan. 3, acting on a search warrant for Austin Schepers, the alleged gunman who shot an Orange County deputy earlier in the day.
Indiana State Police Master Trooper Philip Hensley said they found Schepers' car in Orangeville and later found the female passenger in the woods. Hensley said charges could be possible for her.
Hensley said they had reason to believe Schepers was in a home on Market Street in New Albany Friday night and after a stand-off, SWAT officers entered the home to find that he was not there.

Hensley said Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana and Jefferson County in Kentucky are on watch as they still believe Schepers to be in the greater Louisville area.
Officers arrived with hostage negotiators as they attempted to contact Schepers and have him surrender without incident.
Indiana State Police advises the public to not approach Schepers if they see him and immediately contact 911.
