Officials give all-clear following bomb threat at Floyd Central High School
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Floyd Central High School was put on lockdown after a threat was made Monday afternoon.
Floyd County Dispatch received a phone call with a threat of backpacks being placed around the school with bombs inside around 12:30 p.m., officials said.
According to a release, the caller also claimed to be nearby with a high-powered rifle if dismissal or evacuation was initiated.
FCHS administration immediately placed the school on lockdown as law enforcement was deployed.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office and the School Resource Officer extensively surveyed the area in and around the school to investigate.
After completing the sweep of the area, officials gave the school district an all-clear to dismiss students on time, according to the release.
All after-school activities were canceled out of caution as the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office wanted to do another sweep of the area.
