Future Healers Teen Medical Program participant selected for medical conference
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A junior from Eastern High School and standout Future Healers Teen Medical Mentorship participant, Leilana Stephenson, has been selected to attend the Congress of Future Medical Leaders.
The prestigious national conference is hosted by the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists and will be held from June 25 to June 27, according to the release. The event gathers the nation’s top high school students who aspire to medical careers.
Stephenson joined the Future Healers Teen Mentorship Program in Sept. 2024 and has consistently shown leadership and compassion throughout her involvement with the program. She has also volunteered with the Future Healers Children’s Program, which has grown from 25 children in 2021 to reaching over 800 by 2025.
“We are incredibly proud of Leilana,” Executive Director of 2X Game Changers Christopher 2X said. “When she contacted us and our partners about this opportunity, we didn’t hesitate to sponsor her. Supporting young leaders like Leilana is exactly why the Future Healers program exists.”
2X said Leilana’s participation at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders marks a powerful moment for her personal journey and for the city of Louisville, as it elevates the voices of local youth to a national stage and reaffirms the power of mentorship, community and early investment in future medical leaders.
