Brooks Houck, Joseph Lawson transferred to Warren County Jail ahead of trial

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Ahead of their upcoming trial next week, Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson have been transferred to jail in Warren County.

The trial of Houck and Lawson is set to begin on Tuesday in Bowling Green. Houck is charged with complicity to murder and tampering with evidence. Lawson is charged with conspiracy to murder and tampering with evidence.

Houck is charged with the disappearance and presumed murder of Rogers, 35, who was his girlfriend.

Rogers was last seen alive on last seen on July 3, 2015. Her car was found abandoned two days later on the Bluegrass Parkway.

The Nelson County case was moved to Bowling Green due to pre-trial publicity, with concerns a fair trial would be difficult to achieve in Bardstown.

Joseph’s father, Steven Lawson, has already been convicted in a separate trial on a charge of conspiracy, stating he picked his son up on the Bluegrass Parkway on the night of July 3 after he left Rogers’ car on the side of the road.

Joseph Lawson is facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Houck was named the main suspect in the aftermath of the case, but he eluded arrest for years until the FBI took over the case.

Jury selection for the trial begins on Tuesday, June 24.
