LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Three 18-year-olds have been arrested and are suspected of being part of an organized car theft crew after a police chase Sunday night, a spokesperson for Louisville Police said.

LMPD said a detective was conducting surveillance on a vehicle tied to car thefts and attempted a traffic stop in the 9700 block of Dixie Highway. Parker Campbell, Jahmari Crume and Caleb McClean were armed with a rifle, body armor and police equipment and fled when the stop was attempted, police said.

That led to a pursuit that included Indiana State Police when the three crossed the river and went into Sellersburg. Police said the three returned to Louisville after switching to a stolen vehicle, which they left to continue fleeing on foot in a parking garage on 4th and Main Street. They were arrested in the garage without further incident.

Detectives recovered a rifle that police said was discarded during the pursuit.

All three have been charged with engaging in organized crime, tampering with physical evidence, receiving stole property, and multiple charges of fleeing police, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief. Additional charges are expected.

The trio will be in court Tuesday, Dec. 16.
