KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WBTV/Gray News) - A mother in North Carolina was charged with murder after her 11-month-old baby overdosed on a drug that’s 100 times more potent than fentanyl, according to authorities.

Ebone Tintourri Johnson, 38, was arrested on Dec. 10 and charged with second-degree murder.

On July 30, police were called to a home where they found the baby unconscious and not breathing.

An arrest warrant said the baby boy died after he was exposed to carfentanil, which the U.S. Department of Justice said is 100 times more potent that fentanyl.

The warrant alleged the exposure came “in an inherently dangerous manner.”

Gaston County court records showed Johnson was initially denied bond. That decision was upheld in court on Dec. 11.
