New library branch opens in Fairdale

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Fairdale welcomed a new, state of the art library branch on Saturday. The 7,600 square foot facility drew community leaders, Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch and Mayor Greg Fisher to the official opening.
The Fairdale Branch of the Louisville Free Public Library became the newest addition to the library system. The Newburg branch opened in 2009 and the next projected opening will be the Southwest Regional Library off Dixie Highway.
Councilwoman Welch stated, "This facility is a labor of love for many people in Fairdale who believe libraries enhance our community and provide our children with the tools they need to learn and grow. I am proud to join so many others who never gave up in making this branch a priority."
The new library features state of the art technology, a large children's section, and 30 new computers. The building also features green materials to make it more energy efficient.
