American Legion Post members fondly remember 'Louie'
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Flags were flying at half-mast outside the American Legion Post 42 on Sunday.
"We are all very devastated," Sue Hunt, the adjutant of the American Legion Post 42, said. "We were all in here last night and the tears were flowing."
Hunt was talking about her friend, and fellow American Legion Post 42 member, 68-year-old Lewis Morrison, who was often referred to as "Louie."
Police say he was shot and killed in his home by 25-year-old James Duffy on Saturday during a robbery.
"These people want to rob somebody and take their belongings so they can buy more drugs," Floyd County Sheriff Frank Loop said. "That's the thing in our community; it's the drug problem."

Morrison was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served as the Sergeant at Arms of the American Legion.
"He was so dependable," Larry French, the former commander of the Post 42, said. "Anything that you ask of him, if somebody was going to be late coming in, all you had to do was call Louie. 'I'll be right there.'"
Morrison was known as Post 42's "go-to guy." He cleaned, cooked and even had the "Louie" Burger named after him.
"I couldn't be more grateful for Louie," Michael Kugler, the chaplain of the Post 42, said.
The morning of his death, Morrison's friends say Morrison was preparing the American Legion for a voter registration event. It's an example of what he did best, caring for the people and organization he loved most.
"You can't replace a guy like that," said Jay Nelson, the post commander of Post 42. "It's the deal."
